Hi There! I’m Whit, and I’m proud to be an auctioneer and personal property appraiser with Peak Auto Auctions. I have lived on the Front Range of Colorado for over ten years. Although I’m not a Colorado native, I got here as quick as I could. The best part of Colorado for me is the bright, sunny afternoons with amazing views of snow-capped mountains.
I was born and raised in Little Rock, Arkansas. I earned a BSBA in Organizational Leadership from the University of Arkansas in 1998. After college, I lived in Lincoln, Nebraska for 8 years working in a variety of sales and marketing professions, including transportation sales, retail management, and non-profit membership development.
While living in Nebraska, I began to attend government surplus property auctions to purchase inventory for a small business I owned. I instantly became fascinated with the auction method as an effective form of commerce. I started going to as many auctions that I could to watch auctioneers make “magic” happen.
In 2014, I made the commitment to follow my passion and completed auction school. As an auctioneer, I have marketed a variety of residential, commercial and industrial assets in both live and on-line auction settings. In 2015, I began the process to become a personal property appraiser. I enjoy the research part of appraisals, and the constant learning I do as I look at all the many assets I get to appraise. I am proud to have earned the Certified Auctioneer’s Institute (CAI), Graduate Personal Property Appraiser (GPPA), and Certified Estate Specialist (CES) designations.
As a GPPA, I will develop a professional valuation and report of your assets that will meet the Uniform Standards for Professional Appraisal Practice, or USPAP. I can appraise almost any tangible asset of value, however, as a self-proclaimed “tech geek”, my favorite items to appraise are computer and scientific equipment. My favorite part of the appraisal process is utilizing my research skills to understand the history of an asset, to analyze the factors affecting value, and to develop a specific value under a unique set of conditions.
As a Certified Estate Specialist (CES), I help trusts, estates, and families experiencing a relocation or life change sell personal property that is no longer needed or too difficult to relocate. I am always happy to provide a consultation to assess the items, your needs and goals.
In 2019, I started the process to further my continuing education with the Auction Marketing Management (AMM) designation. When completed in 2020, I will be the only Auctioneer in the state of Colorado, and only with 4 professional designations.
Appraisals of personal and business property are needed for a myriad of reasons, including insurance replacement, estate tax, and charitable donation. If you have an appraisal need, please give me a call and I’ll walk you through the process.
Of course, there’s no obligation ever. I’m looking forward to meeting you.
